This was bought cheaper at Kroger, I don't recommend buying for the current price listed here. The toys/accessories that come with the baby are not usable with the toy other than through imagination, this does not bother my 4 year old daughter at all. The accessories are soft and pliable but the hamster is hard plastic and fuzzy, although the fuzz feels like it could easily be scuffed off. They are very cute and my daughter loves to play with it, although it does not move at all on it's own like the larger hamsters, there is just a ball on the bottom so that it can be moved around if pushed.

She's very pretty. zhu zhu pets in general are more fun than i thought - who needs a real hamster? you kind of just watch them but they're still funny. they do go through batteries pretty fast. The play sets don't come with enough connectors to connect everything together as shown on the packages, cepia said they will have a link on their website to order more, w/proceeds going to charity but haven't seen that yet.

I work at CVS who is a retail that sells zhu zhu pets and I think these are cute. I got this one for my sister as a joke because her guinea pig is the same name.
For those of you complain that they don't talk or move on their own well duh! You should read the packages. They are for your children to pretend to take care of or for the bigger ones to push around. They also all come with their own little accessories like bottles, or toys. A good addition to a zhu zhu collection.

Zhu Zhu Pet Hamster Deluxe Accessories: Baby Hamster Stroller Review

No Babies Included: after buying other Zhu Zhu products it will soon become obvious that nothing comes with a hamster (or baby hamster in this case). Luckily I found the stroller and a couple babies to go with it at the same time.

No Housing Structures: unlike other Zhu Zhu add-ons, this one doesn't attach to the housing structure like the car for instance. So it does seem a little scarce when you open the big box and there are no building structure pieces included.

Movement: Once a hamster engages the stroller, it doesn't let go of the stroller when it backs up, it will stay attached. So the hamsters move forward and backward with the stroller; it's too heavy for any side-to-side, spinning, or turning movement though.

Assembly: The stroller comes in 3 pieces. The 2 canopy pieces have to be snapped in place on the carriage. At first, I thought the canopies didn't fit right (or weren't wide enough) until I realized you had to tilt and snap them into place. Once I did that, the thing holds together just fine, and the canopies flip from front to back with perfect alignment. I suspect those who might give it a "flimsy" rating are not installing the canopies correctly, which is perfectly understandable since there are no assembly instructions.

Free Baby in DS Game: One suggestion, if you can't find a Zhu Zhu baby and your desperate... If your children happen to have a Nintendo DS, you can buy them the Zhu Zhu pet DS game and it comes with a little blue baby hamster in the box. Funny how the DS game comes with a baby and the stroller doesn't!

I'm seeing lots of 1 star reviews on this toy just because these people are too week or week minded to put this thing together. I did not even need the instructions. It is very self explanatory. The pieces are very flemsy. The reason for that is because they are made of hard rubber (this way they are shatter proof). I bought all the pieces individually and had no problem with any of them. If you have made it through grade school this won't be a problem to put together and your kids will love it!!!

Tried to get this for my 11 year old for Christmas, but they were sold out and/or VERY expensive. However, was a bargain in June, his birthday. Wasn't sure what he'd think of it--- he has a real hamster (again). He loves it! He has proclaimed it "cool" and has played with it more than anything else he got for his birthday (including his real hamster.) (well, ok, he got an ipod touch and hasn't put THAT down, but still...)
I was pleasantly surprised at his reaction and really the cleverness of the toy. Was worth the [...] I paid! Glad I didn't pay three or four (or more!) times that at Xmas. And it doesn't eat or poop......

The Zhu Zhu Pets may not be educational, but my daughter really loves these and they are really fun. They are much better on hardwood than on carpet. Try not to let them get hair or fibers in those spinning wheels. These are really cute and I don't know one kid that doesn't like them. My daughter's friends and cousins are all very absorbed in them when they play with them.

Also, since I couldn't find this information prior to buying one, I thought I'd share this: you CAN change the batteries. You need a screwdriver to open the compartment on their underside and replace the battery when a Zhu Zhu is getting "sluggish" or just won't turn on anymore.

I bought a set of 3 pets for my 5-year-old granddaughter, and she was thrilled (I felt tempted to tell her that it wasn't from Santa, but I didn't so he got the credit). She carried them all over the house for a few days and put them to sleep for the night. Kids have to be instructed and supervised while playing with it, especially girls with long hair should be reminded to keep their hair away from the toy. Be prepared to stock on batteries.
The toy is fun, I would buy a couple more. I wouldn't buy any other stuff for the pets - they are just good as they are running on the floor and sleeping in whatever beds or boxes the child already has.

Isn't it the same as driving all over creation when you're willing to pay over more for something just because it's hard to find right now? I'd rather wait till after Christmas and take the kids shopping with their gift cards and they can pick one out for 8-10 dollars.
It's the same every year, the media hypes up some toy as the best and people go nuts trying to get them while retailers take advantage of the customers. People will break themselves to get the best toy ever that will be back on the shelves for half the price or less just after xmas. Like the Wii, xbox 360, cabbage patch, power rangers etc. I bet people who spent 500. on a wii are regretting not waiting and paying 199. The Xbox was selling all over Ebay for 1000. and more, ridiculous.
I want to get these zhu zhu pets for my kids too, but I'm not willing to pay the over inflated prices that Amazon allows these 3rd party companies to charge.

Bottom line is most kids are happy to open lots of gifts, they won't miss the most popular toy because it's mostly the parents that want to make sure their kids get these. The worst part is that many of the "toys of the year" will end up in the corner of the room within a week, ignored.

An adorable little toy that the kids just love.I bought this and a few others for birthday gifts for them and they let them run around the house.The dog used to chase them but now just ignores them.The kids put them in ,I guess,a hamster house and they run around from one cage to the other.Mostly they just play on the floor with them.Truth be told I like to play with them too.They are adorable and I bought them on sale at Target and they were no where near the online prices.

This is a great accessory. The kids really enjoy it and play with it often. Keeps the pets from getting lost too. My daughter says when in it they make specific noises in each room but not sure if that is true or just her imagination. Will have to investigate further and report back.
